Many businesses are missing out on the marketing potential of a website

MYOB have released their latest Business Monitor survey results which looked at the number of NZ businesses that have a website.

Only 34% of New Zealand businesses surveyed had a website and only 20% were selling products online.

The results of the survey indicated that businesses with a website and an online presence tended to perform better and generate more revenue than those without a website.

Those businesses with a website had more sales in their sales pipeline and had increased profits over those who didn’t.

According to the Monitor, 44% of businesses with a website have more sales or orders in the pipeline (booked in the next three months), compared to just 30% of businesses that don’t operate online.

Looking at the last 12 months, 37% of businesses with a website reported an increase in revenue, while only 28% of businesses without a website saw revenues rise.

The survey results also showed how Kiwi businesses used the internet...

  • 12% writing blogs or online newsletters to promote their business
  • 14% using social media
  • 22% advertising online
  • 29% monitoring competitors online
  • 35% conducting online research and monitoring industry trends
