Facebook for Business

Facebook for Business

Facebook is here and huge numbers of businesses are using Facebook as a marketing tool for their business.

Some are doing it well and others are crashing and burning.

Those that are doing it well have started with a strong brand and this brand identity is coming through in their posts. They know their brand Personality and this drives the style behind the communications. They also know their Positioning and have a strategy on how they will promote their business to clients and potential clients. Their Facebook posts are consistent with their brand.

Facebook works when you inform and entertain through your posts of news and events. It should not be used for selling. It is a marketing tool to substantiate your brand, not a sales tool.

Facebook is the ultimate in permission marketing allowing your fans (what you become when you follow a page on Facebook) to choose when and how they engage with you.

An excellent way to leverage your website is through your website’s articles/news/blog module. For WebMadeSimple and Jaijaz clients, who have the Articles Module, the RSS feed can be set to automatically feed to your Facebook page. This is an excellent tool for enabling you to share longer content through Facebook as it summaries the post and links back to your website. This can also aid in driving traffic to your website. Please contact Sarah if you wish to set this up.

How to set up a Facebook Page for your Business

Before you can set up a Facebook page for your business you need to have a personal page. Once this is set up go to http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php

Things to watch for:

The logo space on your page works best if your logo is square. If you upload a logo that is not square it can crop it, resulting in only part of your logo being visible. Ideally you should create a square logo for your business and upload this.

Don’t confuse you with your business. Use your personal Facebook page to post what’s happening in your life and to share photos and video with friends and family. Keep your business page for posts relating to you in your business.
