Video Tips

Over the years we have seen a lot of footage that has been shot on handycams where some basic mistakes have been made which really detracts from how the video looks.

Check out these tips to make sure you get the most from your next video.

Keep it steady

Believe it or not but its REALLY hard to hold a camera steady even when you're practiced at it. It is always best to use a tripod whenever you can. If you can't try and lock your arms into place and rest the camera against your body. Whatever you do don't try and move around a lot. I've seen someone at a wedding who bounced the whole time they were filming. He was enjoying himself, but motion sickness would have reigned when viewing it.

Lighting

Try and get the lighting right with the person or action being lit from the front. back lighting can be great when used by a professional, but for most it looks like a silhouette and you can't see anything.

Audio

Be conscious of the noise around you and make sure you are close enough to pick up any audio you want to capture. In particular don't call out whilst filming or you will deafen your audience.

Hopefully these tips will allow you to get more out of your videos.
